Infor has been named as a Major Player in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide PLM Applications for Apparel, Footwear, and Retail Brands 2020 Vendor Assessment (Doc #US46840720, 2020).
Jordan K. Speer, IDC research manager for digital commerce, discussed the evolution of PLM in the introduction: “PLM is transforming from simply an application to a centralized platform that serves as a hub for greater multidirectional interactivity between retailers and their partners.”
Vendors included in this IDC MarketScape assessment have a full-suite PLM offering that supports early-stage ideation/storyboarding, research and development (R&D), line and merchandise planning, BOM management, supplier collaboration and sourcing (or integration with), testing and sampling, tech pack management and collaboration, and integration to and collaboration with production/manufacturing.
The IDC MarketScape positioned Infor as a Major Player, noting: “Infor is differentiated by a SaaS multitenant architecture and a nicely laid out UI, thanks to its Ming.le design tool and an integrated platform of standard PLM for AFR capabilities. The company plans considerable R&D investment to enhance its PLM capabilities in this market, including AI/analytics and improved connectivity to and orchestration with supply chain planning and execution through Infor ERP and Infor Nexus. Infor plans to add line planning and CAD integration capabilities on the front end of the PLM process, in addition to Adobe and CLO, and an improved R&D-to-production interface and collaboration capability.”
The IDC MarketScape listed one of Infor’s strengths as “multitenant SaaS cloud architecture enables
a view of multiple complementary data models, integrated closely with Infor’s ERP as required.”
Infor PLM for Fashion empowers companies to seamlessly link vital areas of the value chain to their business processes—from line planning, design, and development to supply chain sourcing and in-season consumer-driven design changes.
“We hear from our customers how much value it brings to have a strong PLM offering not just on its own but as a piece in the puzzle of the end-to-end process operating on a collaborative platform – along the same lines as IDC has indicated in this assessment,” says Helene Behrenfeldt, Infor industry and solution strategy director. “Infor Fashion for PLM is differentiated through its scalable, multi-tenant SaaS cloud architecture, intuitive user interface with role-based homepages, and Infor OS technology that enables collaboration, easy integration to other application and much more. We have a clear strategy and focus and look forward to providing our PLM customers with new innovations on a monthly basis.”
